What Doulas Do
When I tell people that I'm a doula, the first question I often hear is, What does a doula do?

Doula comes from a Greek word that means, simply, a woman who serves
Now we use the term to describe a woman who is trained to provide non-medical care and support to a mother
(and her partner) during labor and childbirth, and in the weeks after a new baby's arrival.

My hope is that this website will help to spread the word and that before long, doula will become a familiar and commonly used term.  In the menu above, please click on the links to learn more about birth doulas and postpartum doulas,
as well as my own background and services.
